Wood Collection
Riverwood
source their wood from a number of places. We work closely
with the Port of London Authority and Thames 21 to collect
driftwood from the River Thames that would otherwise be
destined for landfill sites.
Much of our wood is ‘donated’ and may otherwise
be wasted.
Each year we recycle around 50 tonnes of wood that would
otherwise end up in landfill or remain floating around the
Thames.
Process
Wood
is collected from the various sources. Some needs to be
fully dried out depending on where it has originated from
before being worked on.
The cleaning and sanding is done mainly by hand to preserve
the natural form of the wood.
